A Ride for their lives......
In Burkina Faso, young boys are often left as Aids orphans.
Their extended family are struggling to cope with their own kids so adopting another one is not easy. Without money for education they are left to roam the streets in the city where they are vulnerable to abuse. Most are involved in petty crime simply to get enough food to survive.
Along with other charities Aid to Burkina helps fund the Dorcas Street Boys project which we started in 2010. It teaches them to do woodwork, metalwork, to learn practical electrical skills and tailoring. Recently we have been looking into resourcing a Motorbike repair workshop as motorbikes are the commonest mode of transport in the country .
Money raised by this raffle will be used to buy motorbikes locally (Yamaha 125 clones) which the boys can work on, learning the skills they will need to set up a business and have a productive life as well as providing transport for the workers of the charity. Surplus funds will be used to buy tools and equipment for the Boy's project.
By buying this ticket you are helping take a young man out of poverty and providing a practical form of education that will give him something to hope for and help him live a productive life with worthwhile employment.
