The Trust owns and manages The Spinney which is sited on the Creeton Road, just outside of Little Bytham.
For those who may not be familiar with The Spinney, it is a most magical and inspirational places, where adults and children alike can ‘run wild in the woods’.
We started The Spinney in 2003 and since then we have spent thousands of volunteer hours and raised many thousands of pounds to create a site that serves not just those living in the local Glenside villages and communities, but we welcome visitors from much further afield.
The Spinney is open every day of the year and there is no charge to visit. However, we always incur management and maintenance costs as we have to ensure that the place is always in a good condition and that it remains a safe but exciting experience.
Each year we have to install new bark safety surfacing and we are always inspecting the play equipment, replacing anything that gets damaged. We are looking to install toilet facilities as this is the main comment people make about their visit. We also need to renew the bench seats as these are deteriorating.
Several times a year, we organise community events and we are now fund raising for our Tree Dressing Day that will take place on Saturday November 23.
Any contributions are always welcome, especially to help with our day to day running costs and we now have a new donation arrangement.
Many thanks for your support and we hope that this year’s Grimsthorpe Ride will be a great occasion.
