Dance with a difference
STRIDE 2017 began in January, with outreach by our team of professional dance artists in 64 schools across Gtr Manchester. For many of the boys, this was the first time they’ve accessed dance. Those who engaged & wanted to continue the STRIDE journey attended a local Try-Out in order to join the Creative Weekly Sessions. April is the month the project will come together for a week of Intensive Rehearsals on-site at the beautiful New Adelphi Building, University of Salford. Working towards a handful of public performances, the group of young men from various social backgrounds across the region will work together with STRIDE’s Artistic Director, Kevin Turner, to produce a masculine & physical site-specific performance on April 7th & 8th. The best thing about STRIDE? It’s completely free!!!
Free dance classes for the schools.
Free for the young men & their parents to be part of STRIDE.
Free for you to come & watch the performances.
STRIDE has been running 8 years and has involved almost 6,000 young men. It’s a thriving creative project, which has had life-changing results. To help keep STRIDE going year on year we need your help.
Tickets are free to come & watch, but we’d love you to donate £5 or £10 for a “ticket” & make our boys professional dancers for the day! You don't have to come to donate. Give what you can and help keep STRIDE going for these young men.
What the young men had to say
“STRIDE has helped me in so many ways, from confidence to just making friends… To me STRIDE is somewhere I can be myself and do what I do best, dance. I would recommend it to anyone…” – Javan
“I’m enjoying discovering the different aspects of dance. STRIDE has improved my fitness and given me confidence in other lessons like music and drama.” – Gareth
