A Charity delivering healthcare to 300,000 people in Zanzibar, running two of the three Government Hospitals.
Health Improvement Project Zanzibar (HIPZ) is a UK-registered charity established in 2006 by Mr Ru MacDonagh, a Consultant Urological Surgeon, based in the UK. Ru had previously worked in East Africa and Zanzibar, and was approached by the Principal Secretary for Zanzibar’s Ministry of Health to help improve healthcare at a hospital in the south of the island. This led to a unique partnership with the Zanzibar Government to improve healthcare in Zanzibar, through fundraising and professional support in the UK.
