The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales.
It is a rite of passage for many in the British hiking community but what exactly does it entail?
Put simply, to complete the Three Peaks Challenge you need to summit the highest mountain in Scotland (Ben Nevis, 1,344m), England (Scafell Pike, 978m) and Wales (Snowdon, 1,085m) within a 24 hour window. This includes all of the driving (462 miles), eating and hiking.
So, in order to raise money for NewstrAid a team of fundraisers from the news industry will be taking on this challenge.
None of the NewstrAid fundraisers belong to the “hiking community” by any means, but they will be working as a team to ensure they all get over the line within 24 hours, a requisite for completing the challenge.
The fundraising target is a minimum of £6,000 for the charity so any help you can offer by donating would be greatly appreciated.
NewstrAid is a charity which helps people who work or have worked in the retail, wholesale, distribution or circulation of newspapers and magazines. For more information visit www.newstraid.org.uk
