We are fundraising to support our partnership with the Samuel Rhodes School for children and young people with special needs. Many pupils at the School have balance and mobility issues and dance is a fantastic way to support their physical co-ordination skills and abilities, whilst also developing self-confidence, self-esteem and social skills. The School focuses on supporting pupil’s independence, promoting better learning & developing social and communication skills –we work closely with the teachers to design activities supporting these goals. The Samuel Rhodes School has access to dance workshops and performances at Sadler’s Wells, and our Creative Learning team offers advice and materials on how teachers can use movement to teach curriculum-based skills. We need to raise £5,000 covering the cost of tickets and staff to support visits and workshops. The Samuel Rhodes School is based in Islington where wealth & poverty live closely alongside each other, 45% of children live in poverty and 49% of pupils are registered for free school meals. All the children at the Samuel Rhodes School have a statement of special educational needs and those receiving free school meals is well above the national average.
