Southport Offshore Rescue Trust, an independent lifeboat and land-based search and rescue charity
Run by the Southport Offshore Rescue Trust (SORT), Southport Lifeboat provides an independent lifeboat and land-based search and rescue service along the Merseyside and West Lancashire coastline and inland waterways.
Being independent means that the Trust is responsible for all of its’ own financing and fundraising, it receives no regular grant aid towards the running costs of the lifeboat and overall rescue services. The crew and all our volunteers commit their time and effort freely, they receive no payment at all.
On average it costs in the region of £65,000 per year to keep our full search and rescue service “on-station”.
