We've converted this vintage mobile home into a unique travelling educational resource to demonstrate the wonders of the beehive and explain the importance of pollinators both in the natural world and in the provision of food for human consumption. The Beemobile has activities inside and outside, structured to inform and entertain both a full class of children and individual adults. The outside of the Beemobile is illustrated with identifiable plants and flowers and crops that are dependent on honeybees for pollination. A serving hatch opens up from the rear of the Beemobile with a host of different flavoured honeys for tasting. (At festivals we are able to supply a simple breakfast of locally produced toast and honey). The inside of the Beemobile is a bee world, transporting the visitor into the world of the beehive. A soundscape includse some of the many different sounds that bees use for communication, from warnings to the piping of a newly emerging queen. In summer an observation hive has real bees to be seen. In winter it is replaced with an educational video.
