Bruce Green is a dedicated philanthropist and for many years has donated to lots of local charities in Northamptonshire.
Being an avid film buff and with a desire to share this passion with others, Bruce has, for over 20 years, liaised with schools in Northamptonshire who support children with learning disabilities, special needs or physical disabilities and arrange for the children who attend these schools to be taken on an annual trip to the Cinema.
In 2018, Bruce decided to extend this work and found his own charity dedicated to the children and young people in Northamptonshire who do not have the opportunity to enjoy everyday outings that so many of us take for granted.
As a result, the Bruce Green Foundation was founded as a registered charity in England and Wales.
We aim to expand the wonderful work which Bruce has done and become a widely recognised charity in Northamptonshire with the capability to give children and young people a wide range of opportunities, encouraging them to have the confidence to make changes for the betterment of their lives: academically, socially and emotionally.
This year we are taking hundreds of children (and their carers) from various schools who cater for children with special needs, learning difficulties and disabilities to a Cineworld Cinema for a screening of a suitable film. Over the years, Bruce has established a fantastic relationship with Cineworld, who always go the extra mile to make the children feel incredibly welcome including with a ‘red carpet’ entrance!
In the years to come, we are looking to expand into educational and cultural visits (such as music, theatre and dance), with the opportunities for social interaction and learning.
We bring smiles to so many faces and give these young people a once in a lifetime opportunity, a chance to better themselves and gain the confidence to go on to achieve wonderful things of their own making.
