Since 1969 The Friends of Leighton House has supported Leighton House Museum in raising awareness of the life and work of Frederic, Lord Leighton.
Sir John Betjeman was the first President of The Friends of Leighton House (FLH). Since this time it has worked in support of Leighton House Museum, raising funds towards critical Museum projects including major international exhibitions; the acquisition of seminal works by Leighton and, the delivery of an ambitious education programme. Leighton House Museum, supported by FLH has broadened its educational offer to welcome more children, young people and families than at any other time in its history.
Leighton House Museum is the former home and studio of Frederic, Lord Leighton, President of the Royal Academy, 1878-1896. Its exceptional interiors offer a rare insight into the Victorian era and its artists, in particular Lord Leighton.
