Since 1969 The Friends has supported Leighton House and more recently its sister museum, Sambourne House. The Friends raise funds towards developing and preserving all aspects of both houses, thus furthering the appreciation of Victorian art and social hi

Sir John Betjeman was the first President of The Friends. Since this time the charity has worked in support of Leighton House and Sambourne House, raising funds towards critical museum projects including major international exhibitions; the acquisition of seminal works by Leighton, the major redevelopment Hidden Gem, conservation of the collections and the delivery of an ambitious education programme. Leighton House and Sambourne House, supported by The Friends, has broadened its educational offer to welcome more children, young people and families than at any other time in their history.
