We are working with Streetwise Opera, an award-winning charity that uses music to help people who have experienced homelessness move forward in their lives. Through a series of expert-led workshops, we will develop not only the participants’ vocal and performance technique but also offer them a renewed sense of confidence and self-worth, which will have a transformative effect on their day-to-day lives. The workshops will culminate in a performance of an abridged version of Bach’s St Matthew Passion featuring Streetwise Opera and The Sixteen. The oratorio will be brought to life as an immersive fully staged opera over Easter Weekend 2016 in Manchester.
Rehearsals for The Sixteen's collaboration with Streetwise Opera are now in full swing, but we still have an ambitious fundraising target to meet to fully realise this project.
