Waterloo Uncovered is the ground-breaking charity combining world class archaeology on the battlefield of Waterloo with veteran care and recovery. We run five programmes focussing on wellbeing support, education and archaeology for veterans and military personnel, designed to help with the transition to civilian life and provide a vital step in recovering from the traumas of war. One of these programmes, our Excavation Programme, takes veterans to the battlefield of Waterloo for two weeks of hands on education, in person support and camaraderie with fellow service personnel.
This year, we're elated to be returning to the battlefield for the first time since the pandemic began with a team of 100 people, including 20 veterans and serving personnel from 4 different countries, and a welfare team of medical professionals. But excavation - and all the travel, food, equipment, accommodation and more it requires - comes at a cost.
We rely on the generosity of individuals and organisations to fund our programmes, which offer support to those who have served their country when they need it the most. Without donations from the public, we would not be able to carry out our work. If you can help us offset the costs of excavation, we would be incredibly grateful for any contribution you can make.
