As many of you know, 1st Davenham Scout Group bought a piece of land in the village last year. We are waiting for an ecological survey to see if we can apply for planning permission to build a Scout Hall. If we get to build a hall it would be available for community use too. In the meantime, we are trying to make the site as accessible as possible. For example, we have made a natural ‘dead hedge’ fence along the brook and improved the access track. Face-to-face scouting can’t happen under the current COVID-19 restrictions but we are still providing scouting activities for the children and young people to do at home and via online sessions. We are really looking forward to restrictions being eased so we can get out and about again though.
What we really need now is a toilet! Yes, it’s a bit of a pain not having a toilet when we are running scouting activities or doing some work on the land. We have found a company that makes composting toilets for allotments - they don’t need power and they don’t smell! A lot of our fundraising plans have had to be put on hold for now, so we would really appreciate any donations towards the £6872 that it will cost us to buy a fully accessible composting toilet in a secure metal hut.
