Following the announcement of a full national lockdown, our vendors are once again unable to sell Big Issue North.
Our vendors are self-employed, buying magazines from our offices for £1.50 before selling them on the streets of the north for £3. This means that they are not eligible for furlough, cannot work from home, and will not receive a government support package.
The lead-up to Christmas is usually vendors’ most lucrative time of year, but this year, lockdown will leave many desperate. We will do everything we can to support them through this incredibly difficult time, but we need your help.
Donations to our hardship fund will cover our vendors' cost of living, from rent and bills to essential shopping and transport, for as long as they are unable to work. Thank you so much for your support at this incredibly difficult time.
