Alabama Rot (or it's official name Cutaneous and Renal Glomerular Vasculopathy 'CRGV') is a potentially fatal disease in dogs. The disease works by causing damage to blood vessels of the skin and kidneys. Tiny blood clots form in blood vessels which block them and can lead to damaged tissue. In the skin, this causes lesions. Some dogs develop these clots in the kidney which can lead to severe organ dysfunction and ultimately, kidney failure. When it affects the kidneys, 85% of cases prove to be fatal.
ARRF is raising funds to research what is causing this disease.
