Ashfield Football Academy (SCIO) is a football academy and charity situated in the north of Glasgow. A beacon of sportsmanship and mentorship, the Ashfield Football Academy nurtures young talent and fosters a sense of camaraderie among our youth. By encouraging discipline, teamwork, and personal growth, we are shaping future leaders both on and off the field.
We currently have over 170 young players, over ten age groups, plying their trade within our academy. Our youngest age group, the 2014's, set the foundations of a progressive pathway to semi-professional or even professional football. Supported by around 40 volunteer coaches and helpers, our Academy rely on parent contributions and various fundraising activities to support ever increasing running costs such as, Facility Hire, Kit & Equipment, Travel expenses, Insurance, League & registration fees, referee expenses and more.
Our Charity is led by our Board of Directors whom have set off field objectives to make a difference within the north communities, especially in Milton, an area of multi-deprivation (Milton is in the top 5% of Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation in the whole of Scotland). The Charity is currently going through a Community Asset Transfer for a piece of derelict land in Milton and is looking to develop a Pride of Place for the community through sport and recreational activities.
Our Managing Director of the charity, Paul Maxwell has decided to come out of retirement from his football playing days to participate in running the Loch Ness Marathon on the 1st October 2023. Paul is ever present within the football academy and charity, and his passion to make positive change for the Milton Community is spearheaded through this incredible initiative.
Donations to support Paul's marathon run (this is his first ever marathon), however little, will go a long way to support our charitable cause. For example, a donation of £25 would cover the cost of one football for our young players. Paul has set a fundraising target of £3,000. This amount would cover facility hire costs for one age group for one whole season.
