Your donation allows us to continue the essential work of our unique cultural organisation.
Our combined arts centre opened in 2007, inspired by Bernie Grant’s (MP for Tottenham 1987 - 2000) vision for a platform for culturally diverse artists in Tottenham. Our iconic building, designed by the acclaimed, multi-award winning architect Sir David Adjaye, features a 274-seat auditorium, studio and rehearsal spaces, café, bar, courtyard and creative Enterprise Centre. We remain one of the only dedicated multi- art form spaces for Black and Global Majority-led practice and the only not-for-profit cultural venue in Tottenham.
We champion emerging artists such as Alexandrina Hemsely and Yomi Sode, and established voices including authors Bernardine Evaristo and Zadie Smith. We strive for a world where Black-led work is given the conditions and status to thrive, and provide space for Black artists to create, develop and experiment away from the assumptions and tokenisms of mainstream institutions. While we are an (inter)nationally recognised multi-arts centre, we super-serve our priority audience groups who we know experience significant barriers to accessing, engaging and participating with arts and culture. These groups are: local people from the neighbourhoods surrounding BGAC; Global Majority artists and creatives; and children and young people.
