SUPPORTING BISHOPSLANDS TALENTED SILVERSMITHS AND JEWELLERS
Bishopsland Educational Trust offers the only postgraduate residential induction course for self-employment in British silversmithing. We are asking for support for our young emerging silversmiths and jewellers, many of whom are from disadvantaged backgrounds and without bursary assistance they would not be able to attend.
These talented young people are given exceptional craft training in silversmithing and jewellery. In addition, they attend Masterclasses with the UK’s leading silversmiths, including learning engraving with Malcolm Appleby in Perthshire, chasing and repousée with Rod Kelly on the Shetland Isles and enamelling with Sheila McDonald in Norfolk.
Equally important, the young people also learn the essential business skills required to turn their talent into a career. Opportunities for exhibitions are frequent including working collaboratively with the Saatchi Gallery, Livery Companies and the V&A.
Due to the current economic climate our costs are higher than usual. We are asking if you could please donate whatever you feel is appropriate to help Bishopsland to deliver a unique residential programme for talented young silversmiths and jewellers. Your support will also enable contemporary silver to thrive.
How the money will be spent –
£500 makes a medium sized silver brooch
£1,000 covers the gangs travel to a Masterclass
£2,000 goes towards participation in a national exhibition
£2,500 goes towards a weeks Masterclass
£3,500 gives bursary support for a talented emerging silversmith in financial need
Next year, 2018 Bishopsland will be celebrating its 25th year, we hope to see you at our celebrations.
Sincere thanks for your continued support.
