South Downs Refugee ProjectMVIT08

We are a voluntary, not-for-profit, community group centred in Hassocks and extending to Hurst, Keymer & Ditchling, in Sussex, UK.

We are working towards welcoming a refugee family to the area and helping them resettle into our community under the UK Government's Community Sponsorship scheme.

Community Sponsorship is a scheme set up by the government in 2016 which enables local people to come together and directly enable the resettlement of refugees, usually (but not always) fleeing the Syrian crisis.

The work of the group involves fundraising to cover resettlement costs, undertaking the Home Office application process, finding good quality affordable accommodation, and building a local network of volunteers within the community, who provide direct support to the family throughout their first year in the UK.

We have partnered with Citizens UK, a registered UK charity, who provide guidance to the group and oversight of the project.Your donation will be directly supporting our aims in offering a refugee family the chance of a new life here in the UK - thankyou so much !
