Dean Forest Railway Society
The Dean Forest Railway, formed in 1970, currently operates over 4.25 miles and preserves living railway heritage in the Forest of Dean. The Dean Forest Railway Society is a registered charity with the aims of preserving, restoring, developing and operating the Dean Forest Railway. We also advance education in railway history, in particular that of the railways in the Forest of Dean. The railway is volunteer-based, with the vast majority of roles being filled by volunteers from all walks of life. The Dean Forest Railway Society raises funds, recruits volunteers and acts as a membership organisation for supporters and volunteers, who receive a quarterly full-colour magazine and many other benefits.
