Eggcup stops surplus food from going to waste and gets it to people instead.
Tens of thousands of people in Lancaster and Morecambe are struggling financially. Food banks cover crises for a few weeks, but people need a longer-term solution. Eggcup sources, sorts, stores, and repackages surplus food that would otherwise go to landfill. We distribute it through food clubs, and during the pandemic, through outlets where members can come and choose their food. We aren’t giving handouts; members belong to the club, pay a weekly fee to pay for the costs of sourcing the food, and play a role in organising and making choices about the club.
