Free Books Campaign - Getting books by authors of colour to those who can't afford or access them across the UK & Ireland.

Free Books Campaign is an organisation which gets books by authors of colour to those who can't access them for free across the UK & Ireland. Free Books Campaign CiC, a non-profit established in 2020 to get books by authors of colour to those who can’t afford or access them for free across the UK and Ireland. I founded the non-profit to tackle the widening gap in education and access to literature. Since 2012 over 800 libraries have been permanently closed due to austerity - a number which is likely higher since the pandemic. In less than four years we’ve donated 8,000 books (and counting) to our communities, launched our annual literature festival and supported many schools, community centres, youth clubs and more all across the UK and Ireland. Each year our festival travels to different areas of London where there are high rates of deprivation, aiming to have an impact on closing the gap in access to literature, networks and free events for those in local communities and estates. Our festivals welcome over 1,300 people, donate over 2,000+ books and have been featured in BBC, The Guardian, ITV News and more.
