Hampstead Downstairs is the home of brilliant new writing, nurturing young and first-time playwrights whose work is produced and performed in Hampstead Theatre’s 80-seat studio. A strict no-press-review policy allows writers to develop their craft in a protected space, in front of a paying audience, without the glare of the critical spotlight. Hampstead Downstairs attracts renowned directors and actors while the consistently high calibre of work delights our audiences. We create seven productions every year which frequently sell out and often transfer to Hampstead’s Main Stage and the West End. To include as wide an audience as possible ticket prices are subsidised so they are only £12, and just £5 for the first five performances of every production.
To support new writers, create terrific productions and keep ticket prices low, Hampstead Downstairs depends on fundraised income. Please help us by making a donation today, your gift will directly support this work.
