Formed in 1959 by The Rotary Club of Taunton we promote voluntary service in the hospital and raise funds to buy extra equipment and facilities.

Thanks to generous donations. legacies and fund raising over the years the League of Friends has been able to provide many millions of pounds towards equipment and facilities. We also run a League of Friends Shop within the hospital, which is very popular with patients, staff and visitors. The shop is run by a few staff plus a team of volunteers, who also take trolleys around the wards. Bastable Lodge is a bungalow on the hospital site built and maintained by the League of Friends, which enables relatives to have emergency accommodation. Although it is free to stay many visitors leave a donation towards this much used facility. We are pleased to be able to offer this facility in a crisis.
