Many of our students would be unable to nurture their creativity through Leith School of Art’s courses without the offer of a subsidised place.
Your gift helps us offer high quality art courses to more people. This means that we have a lively mix of aspiring artists who contribute to a richly diverse culture which benefits everyone in the School. In the bigger picture, this leads to more voices being represented in the art world.
This year, 1 in 4 students on our Foundation Course received an Assisted Place bursary. With a focus on the foundational crafts of drawing and painting, we teach students to experiment with styles and media. Reliably, each Foundation Course student who applies to study art at university is offered a place at a reputable institution.
Alice explains how her time with LSA was important to her, “to say this has been a life-changing opportunity is probably an understatement. For me, art is not an indulgence, a past-time or a passion. Nor is it therapy. It’s about being the best of myself - my own, creative, joyful, self. A place I can just be, without thinking, without worrying. Every hour spent in the School has been like a little light.”
