What has happened?
After a successful project at Harrogate College, we are looking to create another garden at our North Street campus and we are turning to the community for help!
What is our vision?
Our vision is to transform the area pictured above into a functional urban garden. We are actively working towards bringing this vision to life by engaging 55 beginner ESOL students in a project designed to equip them with the skills to create a vibrant garden for our North Street Campus community.
Given that our North Street Campus accommodates an 80% refugee and asylum seeker population, it is crucial to provide spaces for socialisation, relaxation, and reflection. Unfortunately, our campus is situated in a highly urbanised area, lacking green spaces. Our mission is to address this by establishing a serene and communal garden for students, with the overarching goal of promoting the well-being and mental health of all campus residents for years to come.
A funding of £500 will not only transform the space but also significantly enhance the prospects of these students.
Where does your money go?
Students involved in the project will receive workshops from experts in woodwork, permaculture gardening, and creative design, enhancing their practical skills, employability, language proficiency, and confidence.
The project is scheduled to commence in February 2024. Your support will make a lasting impact on the lives of these individuals, contributing to a more vibrant and inclusive community.
