Every night from 1st December through to 17th December Santa will be making his annual visit to Malton, Norton and the surrounding villages. The sleigh will steadily make its way around the area, accompanied by our members and volunteers from Malton, Norton and District Lions Club.
We won’t be knocking on doors again this year, but if you'd like one of our collector Elves to pick up your donation from your doorstep please get our attention and we'll be happy to come to your door. We also have a card reader this year so you can donate by card if you prefer. Alternatively, you can use this page to donate online or by text.
Where Can I See Santa?
Our route will also be pinned on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MaltonandNortonLionsClub
and on our website: https://www.maltonnortonlions.co.uk/
We are using Snapchat again this year to keep tabs on Santa! Each evening we'll publish a link on our Facebook page, so to make sure you don’t miss his visit, please give our Facebook a ‘Like’ and check back for updates or amendments to our planned schedule.
How Can You Support the Lions?
There are lots of ways you can donate to our Santa’s Sleigh appeal this year
The Sleigh is the biggest fundraiser in our calendar, which allows us to help local people need support. In these challenging economic times we have noticed a huge increase in people asking us for help, We know that the cost of living crisis is affecting lots of people, and Christmas is a time when families have many more expenses.
If you CAN help by making a donation, we would be very grateful. Without the support of our local community, we wouldn't be able to help as many people as we do. Whether it is a few pennies in our pot, or a £20 note, we appreciate every donation.
Because we are a volunteer organisation, you can be sure that any money you donate will reach those in need, and so we can respond quickly where needed. Our panel of trustees can make decisions and more importantly get assistance to somebody (actual or financial) within 24 hours of being asked for our help.
You can text to donate fixed amounts - £1, £3, £5 and £10.

What Do Lions Do?
We support local charities and good causes. Some examples are the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Ryedale Special Families and Ryedale Free Fridge. We also respond to requests from professionals who work with local people who need assistance– this might be a young person leaving care who needs bedding, pots, pans and crockery, helped furnish the flat of someone who has fled domestic violence, or contribute to the cost of buying heating oil for a family in difficult circumstances. All requests are considered.
We are active throughout the year, helping at local events, and organising other events to raise money. Our members are from many different backgrounds and ages and have a range of different experiences.
Here are some examples of recent projects:
- £3,000 raised for Yorkshire Air Ambulance through our annual Summer Lunch
- Subsidised and delivered Fish and Chips to older residents in Malton and Norton..
- Helped numerous residents who needed items such as carpets, fridges, washing machines and other essentials.
- Took a carriage full of Ryedale Special Families members on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
- Arranged for a family who’d had a challenging year to go on a caravan holiday in Filey.
- Supported the renovation of Norton skatepark.
- Held a party for the Over 65's in Malton.
- Gave grants to numerous community groups including:
Norton College
Local YMCA
Next Steps
Malton and Norton Riding Club
Fire Station Playgroup
Westow Petanque Club
Terrington Bowls Club
