The National Children's Orchestras (NCO) delivers inspirational skills development and playing opportunities to over 600 children (7-14) each year
Founded in 1978, the NCO’s mission is to identify, nurture and showcase musical excellence in children. Our vision is to enable musically talented children to fulfil their potential through orchestral training and performance, bringing lifelong benefits and contributing to the excellence of the UK’s musical life. The unique features of playing in an orchestra enable young players to develop exceptional musical skills. Performing and having fun with their peers encourages social development and emotional wellbeing. The quality and impact of the NCO experience is demonstrated by the progression of so many former members including violinist Nicola Benedetti, cellist Guy Johnston and conductors Robin Ticciati and Daniel Harding.
