The elderly are the most at risk from coronavirus. Whilst the NHS will care for the sick, those relying on social care for support and company will be alone. Huge staffing shortages, social-distancing rules and the closure of community services will leave the elderly alone and bewildered.
The Executive Chairman of the National Care Association, Nadia Ahmed OBE, told the Sun "If we don't have the workforce to deliver the services then we are going to be substantially challenged. People with the highest need will receive the care but people with medium needs who need the support may be waiting."
National Funding Scheme is raising an emergency fund to support and care for the UK’s elderly to ensure those at most risk continue to receive the care and attention they need. Funds raised will be donated to AgeUK and other similar charities.
