North East Derbyshire District Council has teamed up with the National Funding Scheme to enable people to donate towards helping the vulnerable residents of North East Derbyshire.
Having been working with the community delivering food parcels and medicines to the community, the authority has been working in liaison with other parish and county councils to help those socially isolated by the pandemic and has now setup a charitable fundraising page so local residents and businesses can give a donation to help their local communities.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Martin Thacker, MBE, said: “We have a number of residents who enjoy accessing local amenities but currently can't do so and we would like to ensure they can keep up to date with local news and information”.
“As our first charitable event we would like to raise funds to be able to provide these residents with access to local news and information which may affect them by providing them with copies of their local newspaper”.
“We have a fantastic community spirit in north east Derbyshire and it would be great if we could all support each other and raise some money for those less fortunate in our area to be able to help them when they need it the most”.
