Carnival Recovery Fund
Notting Hill Carnival is such an important part of so many people's lives and a key annual celebration and demonstration of inclusion and diversity in the UK. It was founded to bring the local community together during trying times. Notting Hill Carnival is still proudly a community-led event. As the biggest display of Carnival arts in the UK, Notting Hill Carnival is a spectacular event showcasing the best in Mas, Steelpan, Calypso, Brazillian Bands and Sound Systems. However, it is only made possible through the hard work and dedication of the Carnival community.
When we enjoyed Notting Hill Carnival in 2019, where up to 2 million people came to participate or to spectate in glorious sunshine over the August Bank Holiday Weekend. No one could have predicted there would be no Carnival in 2020, or worse still for a consecutive year in 2021.
It has been a difficult time for the Carnival community and we need to show our support to nurture Carnival Arts and allow it to recover from both the short term and long term impacts of COVID-19 and to ensure a presence in 2022.
Your donations to the Carnival Recovery Fund will be used to support and elevate Carnival Arts and sustain its development across the next year. As organisers we are committed to promoting the arts, craft and business of a relatively unsung art form in the UK, extending knowledge and understanding of Caribbean Carnival arts and the history and culture of London’s Notting Hill Carnival.
