Ohel Sarah provides care for children and adults with cognitive and physical disabilities in Israel through schools, housing and employment centres.

Ohel Sarah was established 40 years ago by an extraordinary couple, the Ginsburgs. They believed in equal opportunities for all and their love and compassion for individuals with disabilities led them to action. They noticed how children and adults with special needs were often hidden away from the rest of society, so the Ginsburgs created a space for them in their own home. There, they nurtured and taught them the skills needed to a live a fulfilled and more independent life. The small enterprise that began in the Ginsburg’s living room soon grew into the large organisation Ohel Sarah is today. Today there are over 600 students, four schools, three employment and day care centres, an old age programme and twenty eight group homes in the community; Ohel Sarah is the only organisation in central Israel that provides continuous support services to the special needs population from age six to end of life. With love and devotion, Ohel Sarah’s professional staff is dedicated to help each student reach their full potential, and support them throughout their lives. As well as meeting our students’ physical, emotional and social needs, Ohel Sarah works closely with parents and caregivers in the difficult task of raising a child with disabilities. Ohel Sarah stays true to the Ginsburg’s legacy of integrity, equality and love for all, and are dedicated to helping our students lead independent, meaningful lives.
