Open Minds is an award-winning counselling service for adults and children over 8, and with an IMP;ACT team for adults who have attempted suicide.
Since 2007, Open Minds have provided free and subsidised counselling, on any issue, to over 1,000 children and young people and more than 3,000 adults. We work to improve clients’ quality of life by reducing anxiety, ill health and mental dysfunction, helping to build coping skills and capacity for healthy living. Many of the children we work with are very vulnerable including suicidal ideation, self-harming or being at risk from other people. Counselling with children typically involves art, creativity, imagination and play. Counselling is by video or telephone call, or in person.
Since 2020 our IMP;ACT Team have provided emotional resilience mentoring and practical coordination, addressing the factors in people’s lives which led to their suicide attempt. This includes managing their personal health, relationships, professional lives and the world in which they live.
