South Ayrshire Befriending Project

South Ayrshire Befriending Project

Scotland

South Ayrshire Befriending Project gives befriending support each year to approximately 65 young people aged 8 to 18 years living in South Ayrshire.

The South Ayrshire Befriending Project is a small charity, based in Ayr, Scotland, whose aim is to reduce the social isolation of the young people we support, increase their confidence and self-esteem, and ensure they are included and feel valued. To do this we recruit, train and support adult volunteers – befrienders – to be matched on a 1:1 basis with young people referred to the SABP. Befrienders meet with the young person every fortnight for 2 to 3 hours for up to 2 years to support and encourage them to take part in activities in the community.
