National Bereaved Parents Day is on July 3rd and is a day to remember parents who are coping with a future without their child. As child death is not in the natural order there is still a taboo about understanding the ongoing grief and loss parents feel. The money raised from this appeal will go directly towards training volunteers and providing support groups and retreats for parents in need so they feel less alone.
The Compassionate Friends supports parents and adult siblings who have to face the future without their child and supports families who have to come to terms with a new way of living. We provide support groups nationwide and online support. We offer retreats and one to one support for those who can't access support in their area. All our support is provided by volunteers, themselves bereaved parents, who need to be trained and suuported so they can support others whilst dealing with their own grief.
We want to raise £5000 to train new volunteers and support existing volunteers with mental health support and counselling.
