Sussex Vale Rotary serves the following communities in Mid Sussex - Albourne, Keymer, Ditchling, Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint and Sayers Common. Rotary is one of the world’s largest and most successful global humanitarian service organisations, with 1.2 million members in over 200 countries.
We are People of Action:
We have a unique position of being rooted within our own communities, but with a global outlook.
Rotary’s 47,000 members in over 1,700 clubs in Great Britain and Ireland are volunteering their time and talents to tackle challenges at home and abroad in our cause areas:
- Supporting the disadvantaged and vulnerable in our local communities
- Fighting Disease such as Polio and helping to combat Covid19
- Providing Clean drinking water
- Supporting education and youth development
- Contributing funds to alleviate the impact of natural and man-made disasters
We are People of Action, ready to turn our ideas and vision into lasting change, by creating opportunities, supporting those who need it most and transforming their lives.
Where others see problems, we see solutions: tapping into our professional skills, expertise and knowledge to make a difference. People of Action use their time, energy and passion to mobilise their communities to get the job done.
There are so many projects and activities for you to get involved in as part of Sussex Vale Rotary. For example:
Environmental projects such as planting croci bulbs to celebrate the huge success in eradicating the terrible disease of Polio, providing/restoring benches and their immediate surroundings for our community residents to enjoy & local litter picking to tidy up verges spoilt by litter.
Community projects - such as leading the formation of the Memory Cafe in Hurstpierpoint to support dementia sufferers and their carers and raising £600 for the St Peter and St.James's Hospice in North Chailey
Covid 19 projects - such as raising and donating £1,500 to local Foodbanks in Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint & Burgess Hill and making 150 scrub bags for local NHS hospitals in conjunction with the Womens Institute
International projects such as providing business start -up or expansion loans to micro businesses - which provide sustainable income in poor and/ or rural areas where unemployment is often very high. We have worked with a sister Rotary Club in Vadodara in North West India to provide clean drinking water to 5 schools - with a sixth on its way. We have also worked with Rotary clubs in the south of UK to provide emergency funds to health providers in Beruit and food suppliers to the refugee centre in Lesbos, Greece which was recently ravaged by fire.
All of these and many other projects of course need funding and our traditional fundraising methods such as golf days, horse racing/ quiz nights and collecting money on highstreets and outside supermarkets have been severley curtailed by Covid 19.
So we are looking to other methods to raise money to finance these valuable local and international projects - such as text donations, auctions, on line quizzes, crowd funding etc.
Sussex Vale Rotary really are people of action - help us to continue to support the disadvantaged in our local communities and internationally. Please donate as follows:
