Working with Streetwise Opera and their beneficiaries has reinforced The Sixteen’s commitment to developing our outreach work. We take great pleasure in touring every corner of the country each year, but we have always striven to achieve more as a group. With your support, we can build upon this success and develop new and exciting projects that have both positive social impact and musical merit.
One new project, already in development, is production of Purcell’s The Fairy Queen with puppetry and theatre group, Box Tale Soup. This innovative, multi-disciplinary project will combine theatre, puppetry, music and literature in an immersive, sensory and interactive experience. We will be taking this performance to state schools in areas of high social deprivation across the country including schools in Hull, Manchester, Tower Hamlets and Croydon.
Our busy Education and Outreach team have more ideas in the pipeline. We would love to reach as many people as possible, but this work will not be possible without your support. We’d be extremely grateful for any donation you can give.
‘In days where music is viewed so highly yet often funded so poorly, projects like this are musical gold dust.’
‘Such a brilliant day. The Sixteen are extremely generous with the time and encouragement they give to singers and supporters, and I suspect they are unique in this.’
