As more towns and cities expand, they encroach onto Hedgehog territories, which often means more roads for them to cross to reach food and to breed.
This site is becoming Dartmoor Zoo’s Hedgehog Hospital!
Hedgehogs are struggling nationwide, and locally around Plymouth practically the entire hedgehog conservation effort is run by private individuals from their own houses.
Scheduled for launch in February 2021, the Dartmoor Zoo Hedgehog Rehab Unit will provide injured or underweight hogs a safe space for convalescence and recovery before rewilding or rehoming.
We are recruiting volunteers now, so if you have veterinary experience, or if you have a garden or space that you think hogs could be release back to the wild in.
