Seven-year-old Chloe was born with an incredibly rare blood disorder called Diamond Blackfan Anaemia and is in desperate need of a blood stem cell donation as her only hope for survival.
Due to her illness, Chloe’s body doesn’t produce enough red blood cells and has been in and out of hospital all of her life and has undergone over 100 blood transfusions to stay alive.
Although Chloe has three siblings, none have a matching tissue type, so Chloe needs to find her match from an unrelated donor.
Chloe’s mum, Francesca, said:
“Finding a donor would mean she gets her quality of life back — she can’t swim, go on rides or do normal things that her brothers and sister can.
“We launched the hashtag #HeroForChloe campaign, because she loves her Disney characters and heroes. Now we need one to help her.”
Chloe’s appeal has captured the nation’s heart and has since inspired thousands of people to register as new potential blood stem cell donors, but a suitable matching donor has yet to be found.
But it’s not just Chloe! Each year, over 2,000 people in the UK are searching for a blood stem cell donation. You could be the match that one of these people is urgently looking for.
It’s vital that we continue to register more people as potential blood stem cell donors in order to help Chloe and people like her. Each new registration to the UK Aligned Stem Cell Registry costs us £40 and we depend upon money donations from people like you to help us cover these costs. You can help us to register more potential lifesavers today by making a monetary donation today.
