Christmas can be a testing time mentally, emotionally, physically and financially for many people. The festive season is one with a heavy focus on family and joy and we understand that many people will feel a lot of pressure at this time of year - especially with the cost-of-living crisis and the repercussion of the Covid-19 pandemic.
FDAMH, also known as Falkirk's Mental Health Association, is an independent charity providing free mental health and wellbeing support to people in the Falkirk and District Community. Our mission is to promote positive mental wellbeing by providing a range of services and creating an environment in which we:
- Support individuals to recover from mental ill health by acknowledging that recovery is a unique voyage of self-discovery and personal growth.
- Prevent deterioration in mental wellbeing; and
- Provide support, education and training related to mental health to carers and across the local community.
This year for Christmas we want to spread awareness around our mental health services and let people know that it's okay to feel sad during the festive period. Recently, 87% of our clients were presenting with anxiety and a further 80% of our clients were presenting with stress . With the cost-of-living crisis causing untold emotional stress and anxiety, we must be able to support people in a helpful and practical way. We want people to know that it's okay to ask for help.
We couldn't continue to do what we do without your support. Your donation will allow us to assist, enable, educate and support people and their families experiencing the impact of mental illness. We know that Christmas can be an expensive time of year – and will be especially tough for those already struggling with their mental health. No matter what you can donate, we are very, very grateful. Thank you!
