Friends of Ibba Girls’ School is developing and supporting a good-quality, non-fee-paying, residential community school for girls in South Sudan.

Ibba Girls’ Boarding School opened in 2014 and provides quality teaching and learning in a safe environment. Built on land donated by community leaders, the school is open to all girls regardless of status or background. Fewer than 1% of girls in South Sudan complete their education. By spanning the last 5 years of primary education and the 4-year secondary curriculum the school helps to reverse this trend. As a residential school it also provides trauma counselling and a range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Girls’ education has been shown to be the single most impactful development intervention.
