Langham parish church is in the centre of our lively village. The church also aspires to be central to the life of this community. We already enable many social, cultural and pastoral activities: concerts, local history displays, Christmas tree festivals, “Tea at the Ritz”, lunches for the elderly, and others. Our village school uses the building for school assemblies and performances. However, in all this we are hampered by the lack of facilities. We want to
- Create a WC. The nearest public one is in the village hall, but this cannot always be open. Some people (especially the youngest and oldest) cannot come to events if there are no facilities.
- Create a servery. So we can cater on a larger scale, in more comfort, and more safely. (Presently we manage coffee with a cold tap and a bucket.) Our hearts are hospitable, we want the building to match.
- Create more space. Working with the building's historic character, we aim to create space for meetings, for children to play, or for mingling (e.g., after a concert).
We are still finalising details through the planning process, so we do not yet have a budget. We have already raised over £20,000, through the generosity of villagers and church-goers, but this will not be enough.
Please help us to serve better the village we love.
