This year marks the 200 years since Sir Walter Scott's home Abbotsford was completed. To ensure that the magic of Abbotsford is here for future generations to enjoy, various elements around the house and gardens must be conserved now to halt their deterioration as climate change accelrates.
The Bicentenary Conservation Fund is raising money to for a range of structural work around the house and gardens, inculding essential repairs to stone statues and sculptures, such as the much-loved Edie Ochiltree statue, carved by Galashiels sculptor Andrew Currie, that marks the entrance to our woodland.
Please support this appeal which includes over 20 elements including the statue of Scott's favourite dog Maida and the garden arcade which need immediate attention to stop further detorioration.
