Up to 90 young people with visual impairment come to study at the Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) in Hereford every year. Our specialist residential FE college rated 'Outstanding' in its residential provision by Ofsted offers a supportive learning environment where students gain many new skills, qualifications, friendships, their independence and so much more!
Local authority funding for special educational needs & disabilities (SEND) is under great strain - even more so following the 18-month covid19 pandemic - so the RNC (a registered charity) fundraises for additional income. Extra funds are used to greatly enhance the student experience and allows the charity to offer opportunities to the wider VI community and beyond via 'Have A Go' Weekends and summer camps.
Funds raised support new equipment eg specialist IT and software, Braillants, gym equipment, infrastructure and general campus improvements as well as a range of exciting extra curricular experiences, for example Duke of Edinburgh, high level disability sports competitions such as Blind Football and wellbeing/social activities. The RNCB needs to fundraise for all of the above and other charitable purposes.
Donating to RNCB will help us deliver more of what our young people need to thrive in a sighted world into adulthood and beyond.
