The importance of neutering is what started Woodside. When Founder Carole Bowles MBE, was first working in animal welfare it sadly wasn't uncommon for pets to be put to sleep due to a lack of space in animal sanctuary's and shelters.
In the last 50 years we have seen a massive shift away from these days. It has been decades since we have seen animals put to sleep due to a lack of space or homes in the local area. We know that we have not only prevented many thousands of unwanted / unexpected animals from being born, but also prevented thousands from protential illness from sexually transmitted diseases as well as cancers such as testicular or womb.
At the sanctuary will still offer assistance to cats, rabbits, ferrets, male guinea pigs and 20 different dog breeds. The assistance is offered to anyone on any benefit or provable low income. Many pet ownership stories are not smooth running. We often see people take on pets to help friends or family, or they may rehome to remove them from situations or even end up with litters after small animals are mis-sexed. Lives also change, and sadly with the cost of living increasing calls for help are too.
In recent months the scheme has been used by many people with XL bullys, with neutering becoming compulsory.
All donations towards this scheme are very welcome.
