Giant Otters are native to South America are facing critical threats that endanger their very survival. Once hunted extensively for their velvety pelts, leading to a significant decline in their numbers, these majestic animals are now grappling with habitat destruction, overfishing, and mismanaged tourism.
Their population has dwindled to approximately 5,000 individuals in the wild, and they have lost about 80% of their natural habitat. We are committed to reversing this decline. In partnership with Instituto Araguaia, we are actively involved in the Cantão region of Brazil, focusing on research and monitoring, habitat protection and community engagement.
However, our efforts require substantial resources, and we cannot achieve our goals without your support. By contributing to our cause, you become a vital part of the mission to save the Giant Otter from the brink of extinction.
Together, we can ensure that future generations will witness these incredible animals thriving in their natural habitats.
